Elinor Martin

I graduated summa cum laude with a degree in music from the University of Northern Colorado and I am committed to continuing education. I have attended Master Classes at the Aspen Music Festival in Colorado for ten years. The teachers of these classes have included the concert artists Emmanuel Ax, Misha Dichter and Rita Sloan.

I am on the Board of Directors of the Music Teachers' Association of California's Conejo Valley Branch and have served in the capacity of Certificate of Merit Theory Chair for ten years. I am well versed in music theory and as Theory Chair I oversee the testing of over 400 students in music theory from beginning to advanced level. The advanced level theory test incorporates many of the concepts of the first year of college music theory. I am an adjudicator for the National Guild of Piano Teachers and have judged the Pleasant Valley MTAC Festivals.

I am an active member in the following organizations:

  • Music Teachers' Association of California (MTAC)

  • MTAC Conejo Valley Branch

  • National Guild of Piano Teachers

  • Southern California Junior Bach Festival

  • In addition to my teaching I am a performing musician as a church pianist and organist. I am currently on staff at New Hope Lutheran Church.

I want to give my students the gift of music that they can enjoy for a lifetime.
